We are completely transfixed by Lupita Nyong’o in the trailer for Jay-Z’s upcoming visual album

We just got a glimpse of Lupita Nyong’o in Jay-Z’s 4:44 album teaser, and our eyes are literally glued to the screen. In case you’ve been too preoccupied with the arrival of the rapper’s new twin babies with wife Beyoncé, Jay recently announced a name change (he brought the hyphen out of retirement, and it’s officially getting hard to keep up, y’all), which coincided with an even huger announcement: a new album to be exclusively released through Tidal.

Undoubtedly, fans’ excitement went through the roof after learning about the impending arrival of the 4:44 album on June 30th. But we have a sneaking suspicion they’re even more pumped after watching Nyong’o serve up THE fiercest of faces in the trailer.

Reportedly, Jay-Z’s 4:44 is a visual album à la Beyoncé’s Lemonade, but that detail has yet to be confirmed. If this teaser is any indication of what’s to come, we expect it to be incredible.

Released by Sprint, the 30-second clip titled “MaNyfaCedGod” features an up-close shot of Lupita Nyong’o, who appears to be going through some sort of emotional strife.

As usual, watching Nyong’o show off her Oscar-winning acting chops has left us in complete emotional shambles. Seriously, we’re experiencing nearly the same level of feels as when Nyong’o and Rihanna’s buddy movie was confirmed.

As Just Jared points out, this is the third 4:44 trailer we’ve seen so far. A previous teaser — ominously titled Kill Jay Z — featured a young boy running, while Oscar winner Mahersala Ali appeared in an equally intense spot titled “Adnis.”

Obviously, we couldn’t be more excited to learn precisely what Nyong’o’s trying to convey here. We cannot wait to find out what kind of tricks Jay-Z has in his musical bag, but we’re sure they’ll be worth the wait.
