Lupita Nyong’o invoked Wakandan fierceness with her gold sequined gown
Some stars just get it right. You know when you see them on the Oscars red carpet, they slay. Each. And. Every. Time. One such star is Lupita Nyong’o, who can seriously do no wrong on the carpet. She isn’t afraid to wear every hue in the color wheel or daring cuts and embellishments that just wow. Tonight’s red carpet look was no different. The Black Panther star was a vision of absolute perfection in a custom gold Atelier Versace.
Nyong’o presented an award tonight, and is it just us, or is she serving some Wakanda fierceness? Either that, or she wanted to match with the night’s trophy.
We don’t know what we love more. The gold that perfectly complements her skin, the black sparkly sash that has a warrior/pageant vibe, or the high slit. Okay, we just love it all.
The bold look was perfectly accessorized with a Versace clutch, Alexandre Birman strappy black heels, and Niwaka fine jewels.
Nyong’o’s stylist, Micaela Erlanger, gave us a closer look at her client’s custom gown and jewelry.

Erlanger told The Hollywood Reporter what went into selecting this ensemble for her star client: “This look encapsulates a strong, powerful and confident woman,” she said. We couldn’t agree more.
