Let’s give a round of applause to one of Hollywood’s greatest fashion icons. Lupita Nyong’o DAZZLING at the Elle Women in Hollywood Awards.

Mermaids always get a lot of play around Halloween. How could they not? Those flippy tails; the shimmering, form-fitting bottoms and detail-rich bodices. Everyone’s fantasized about being a mermaid at some point in her life, whether it be Ariel-inspired or maybe an ode to the most babely live-action mermaid ever: Darryl Hannah in Splash (you know you loved Splash). Whichever the case, stars can’t stop bringing mermaid realness to the red carpet, and for good reason. Nyong’o kept her hair and makeup simple and elegant, pairing a bold brow and glossed lip with an edgy double-winged eye. Isn’t a double-wing just a mermaid tail in this case? We’re going with that.
