Lucy Hale says she’s almost done with ‘PLL’ for good
Pretty Little Liars just wrapped up the end of its 6A Season (and no, we’re still not over it). Even though all the Liars will be back when Season 6B picks up in the future, one Liar might be leaving Rosewood for good. Lucy Hale, the creative and incredibly fashionable Aria, just let it slip that she’s planning on saying goodbye to Red Coats and creepy text messages pretty soon.
In an interview with V Magazine, Hale explains that she wants to try out new things and step away from Pretty Little Liars. PLL is in fact wrapping up its story. The show has the remainder of Season 6 to get through, and has already been renewed for a seventh season. But now, it sounds like Hale will be done even sooner than that. She even gives a date to the end of her PLL run; she’ll “be done next October,” regardless if the show continues on after that.
And now — as if we’re not already freaking out about PLL — we’ve got THIS to freak out over. She doesn’t give much context as to what being “done next October” means, and she could simply be referring to the end of the show. But probably not. Because PLL will probably outlive everything else on television.
Next October is still a year away, though, so maybe we don’t need to worry too much about this. The Liars are currently filming season 6B right now, so by next October, they could be filming season 7B, and then just be done. Or, it could mean that even if PLL is renewed beyond season 7, come October, Hale is going to hang up whatever skull-inspired coat she’s wearing, and say goodbye to Aria.
But, no matter what, we won’t be saying goodbye to Hale anytime soon. She mentions that she’s “looking forward to exploring different and darker roles,” in the future, and already has a indie movie lined up for this fall. Even though she doesn’t have plans for any new albums just yet, music still plays a big part in her life, too. And she’s never going to forget PLL, no matter where she goes.
“I feel like, although Pretty Little Liars has been, will probably be, one of the most important things in my life. I think it’s just the stepping stone to so many more exciting things for all of us.”
Wherever Hale goes, we will follow. But not in a creepy, stalker-ish, cryptic text messages kind of way.
