How to turn around a low-confidence day

It’s just one of those days, huh? You just don’t feel like your best. We’ve all been there before, so don’t think you’re alone! I can remember many times when I got a test back from my teacher and didn’t do well, and it shot my confidence down and made me feel like I wasn’t good enough. I can also remember many days when I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed and struggled with low confidence for no specific reason at all.

The good news is: There are ways you can boost your confidence and turn your day around!

I am a fitness trainer, so of course, my favorite thing to do to relieve some tension or boost up my confidence is to workout. Working out releases endorphins, also referred to as the brains “happy chemicals.”  (Remember — “Exercise gives you endorphins.  Endorphins make you happy. Happy people don’t kill their husbands. They just don’t” — name that movie)! If you don’t have time to complete a workout in your busy schedule that day, though, something as little as five minutes can help you. It only takes a few minutes to clear your mind and give you a boost of energy. Try a quick cardio routine like some jumping jacks, high knees, butt kicks, jump rope, or just a walk around wherever you are!

In addition to a few minutes of a workout, I also find that meditation, deep breathing and positive affirmations, can play a big role in turning around a low-confidence day. You can do these in your office, in your room, at your desk, anywhere. I have a ton of daily positive affirmations and self-love lessons in my e-book, Love Your Body, Love Your Life: 28 Days to a More Beautiful You.

When I was playing my sport in college, my coach always told me before a game to imagine myself making the best pass, the best goal, and having the best game. Draw out the play-by-plays in my head. Try doing this for yourself in life terms. If you are struggling with your confidence that day, you must vision yourself succeeding. This will reassure you that whatever you are working towards, it is possible.

Create a mantra for yourself, so that whenever you feel down, you can repeat it to yourself and remember that you are capable of anything.  My mantra is “I believe in me.” And whenever I have a doubt that I can’t do something, or a day where I just don’t feel as pretty, I repeat that to myself over and over. Make your mantra personalized to yourself and your inner struggles. Mantras can help you overcome obstacles and remind yourself that you are AWESOME.
