Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger got married, and we're so happy for them
It’s official: Patton Oswalt and Meredith Salenger got married Saturday at Jim Henson Studios. In a ceremony attended by friends, family, and a healthy scattering of roses and ivy, Salenger, Oswalt, and Oswalt’s 8-year-old daughter Alice Rigney, became a family.
Oswalt and Salenger announced their engagement in early July after going public with their relationship in June. The couple met through actress Martha Plimpton, who had the honor of officiating the wedding over the weekend.
The blossoming romance came after Oswalt and his daughter respectively lost their wife and mother, Michelle McNamara, in April 2016. McNamara died suddenly in her sleep due to a combination of medications and an undiagnosed medical condition. Oswalt and his daughter deserve all the happiness in the world, and it’s so good to see they’re in a healthy, happy place after heartache.
Both Oswalt and Salenger shared photos from their beautiful day.
There was nothing but smiles and wow — the happiness is contagious.
We’re heartened that this family has rebuilt after going through such a life-altering tragedy. Oswalt has been open about the trauma of losing his wife and the grieving process in general, and even personally addressed critics of his engagement earlier this year (some accused the actor of moving “too fast”). After wandering through a dark period, Oswalt and daughter Alice deserve nothing but light, and it looks like Salenger makes for some sunshine.
