This man’s open love letter to his girlfriend will make you sob
Quitting your 9-to-5 job to travel the world is pretty much the dream. So when we read stories about people who actually make it happen, we’re so happy for them! (And only a tiny bit jealous.) Which is why we totally fell in love after reading this guy’s love letter letter to his GF after they traveled for almost half-a-year together.
In 2015, Kyle James and Ashley Grigsby decided to pursue their dream of seeing the world. In 114 days they trekked through 15 countries and 38 cities.
Then, James wrote a sweet letter to Grigsby about their adventure (but first, he penned a book called Not Afraid of the Fall about their unforgettable journey).
When James received the first advance readers copy, he suggested that he and Grigsby take a hike through the Appalachian Mountains. Little did she know that James had something special up his sleeve.
Together, they trekked to the spot where they shared their first kiss. (Aww.) James handed Grigsby his book and prompted her to read its dedication — which turned out to be a surprise love letter to her about their travels.
James recently published the letter in full on Cosmopolitan.com. It’s so sweet, you’ll want to read it with a full box of tissues.
In the letter, James thanks Grigsby for pushing him to experience life more fully. He says it made their relationship stronger than ever before.
James makes one thing clear — he can’t imagine his life without Grigsby.
So James ended the letter with a very important question.
So. Many. Happy. Tears.
We’re excited to report that Ashley immediately said yes. Their wedding is set for next July, and the couple will say their “I dos” in Dubrovnik, Croatia — one of the many places they’ve traveled to together.
But there’s more good news! James released his book, Not Afraid of the Fall, earlier this month. You can read and re-read his sweet proposal as many times as you want in the book’s dedication.
Congratulations to the happy couple! We hope you enjoy your next big adventure together.
