Although they announced their separation almost two years ago, we just heard that Jennifer Garner has filed for divorce from Ben Affleck, so it’s all becoming well and truly official.

It’s pretty sad, because they were married for a decade and have three children together, but at the end of the day we just want each person to be happy.

Back in September, People reported that Affleck and Garner are putting their children first, and have maintained a healthy friendship with each other throughout the transition — so it does seem like everything is happening in a mature and healthy way. The family appear to be putting emphasis on exactly that — their family — and will continue to spend quality time together.

We wish them all the best as they navigate through what is surely a non-ideal time, and we look forward to hearing more about their modern-family adventures in the years to come. Also, we’re sending so much love the whole family’s way today. Jen and Ben are proving to be a great example of how two people can navigate a tough situation amicably, and even emerge as good friends on the other side.

As much as we know splits suck, these two are actually giving us some major life goals right now.
