Let’s be real for a sec, over the years Justin Bieber has done a lot of things that we could totally deem “questionable.” However, when it comes to his relationship with Selena Gomez, that’s something we could totally get behind. When they broke up, it broke our hearts, and it completely broke Bieber’s too.

Lately he’s been opening up about his former GF and every time he does our little hearts swell a few sizes bigger. He knows that what the two of them had was special, and whenever he talks about Selena we see a completely different side of him that’s so loving and thoughtful and you kinda just want to give him a great big hug. In lieu of that hug for right now, we’re going to have to settle for watching Ellen DeGeneres grill Bieber on all things Selena, and lucky for us she’s the perfect woman for the job.

Bieber stopped by Ellen on Monday, and — even though DeGeneres kinda puts words in his mouth — if he had to pick three songs off his new album, “What Do You Mean,” “Sorry,” and “Mark My Words” are the ones about Selena. He also mentions that it’s tough for him sometimes, because, “there is a lot of stuff that reminds me of her.”

As for looking to the future, Bieber is holding out hope that there’s “maybe” a possibility that the two could get back together (!!). And hey, never say never. For right now, they’re “both just on our own journeys of figuring ourselves out. Maybe once [we do that] we can come together and make an awesome duo. Or she’ll find someone awesome and I’ll find someone awesome.” Well, that’s the most awesome thing you can wish for your ex, ever.
