It’s official: Taylor Swift is the master of surprise.

Since her 1989 tour kicked off, Swift has stayed true to form and treated her fans to insane guest appearances (e.g. the US women’s soccer team and Nick Jonas!). But Swift outdid herself last night when she treated her Washington D.C. audience to a surprise duet with BFF, Lorde.

Unannounced, Lorde joined the stage and gave the sold out audience to a Swiftified version of “Royals.” Of course, the crowd went bananas. As if they had a choice.

The pair later shared some super sweet pictures from the concert:

Lorde followed up with a post-concert Tweet that summed up all of our feelings perfectly. “I’m gonna talk more about the show when I see it in full tomorrow. Be prepared for live tweeting and/or a long reference-heavy tumblr post but seriously, @taylorswift13 is the leader of a great and beautiful galaxy that I’d live in forever.”

Yeah. If there’s room on the spaceship Lorde, we’d like to join you.

We’re still waiting for the full, professionally recorded version of their Royals duet to come out (fingers crossed).  Until then, we’re gonna have to savor the flavor with this fan footage.
