Tinder and condoms abound at the Olympics, in case you were wondering!
Mobile dating apps are flourishing, even at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. You might think we’re talking about visitors attending the games, because that would make sense.
But it’s actually the athletes who are using Tinder in every moment of their free time.
CBS News reports that Olympians are using Tinder to take a break from the pressures of the competition, and apparently there are numerous (shirtless and bikinied) profiles of athletes from nearly every sport. Many of the profiles even have tempting updates, like “Looking for fun in Rio?”
“The Olympics is a very sexually charged time. Young athletes and attendees have been using dating apps heavily in prior Olympics, but now the popularity of an app like Tinder continues to grow and grow,” said Julie Spira, a mobile dating expert.
But don’t worry — the athletes keep it safe. In fact, the Olympic Games actually provide condoms for athletes. And this year, 450,000 condoms have been provided, which is three times as many as the London Games in 2012.
Sounds like “work hard, play hard” applies extra hard for Olympians (and no judgements over here. As far as we’re concerned, they’ve earned some party time).
So guys, there are 10,000 Olympic athletes from all over the world living in a secluded village in Rio right now. Using Tinder for fun. That is all.
