Kate Hudson got real about why dating apps aren't for her
For some of us, dating apps are right up there with penicillin and the internet when it comes to inventions that have changed our lives for the better. But there’s also a significant portion of us who would rather live in a cave than subject ourselves to the exhausting prospect of messaging total strangers on a regular basis.
Which is why we totally understood when Kate Hudson revealed why she doesn’t like dating apps during her appearance on Ellen.
She went on to say, “I just think, why don’t you just meet a guy in Starbucks? Why don’t you just go up to someone and why doesn’t a guy have the guts to come up and say, ‘Hey, I’m so-and-so. How about we hang out?'”
And of course, it shouldn’t just be on the guy to be direct — but we get Hudson’s overall point. Whatever happened to just being able to connect with a person right in front of us? While dating apps can of course be useful, they shouldn’t condition us to avoid, you know, normal human contact.
Although at the end of the day, it’s really about whatever works for you.
Hudson also talked about how her first love is music, and how her sons Ryder and Bing share that love with her — especially major affection for the band Twenty One Pilots. “When a band or music has impact on kids, it’s so huge. […] Every once in a while you get those little glimpses of how music is so deeply impactful for kids, how important that is, and these guys are just awesome,” she said. They even participate in family karaoke!
That is 100% adorable, and what a great way for the family to connect with each other and let loose a little bit. So, we probably won’t be seeing Kate Hudson on any dating apps anytime soon, but at least we have this!
