Kaitlin Olson's dating advice might just be too real

Known for her role in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Kaitlin Olson’s new character and executive-producing role on The Mick is hilarious and sensible. The show follows Mickey, Olson’s character, who is always hustling her way through life and ends up with the guardianship of three children who range from 7 to 18 years old. But IRL, the actress isn’t as out there as Sweet Dee and Kaitlin Olson’s dating advice proves it.

Olson sat down with Glamour to discuss dating and gave some pretty awesome advice on how to navigate the single world, getting what you want, and her life with her children. In order to bag the role for executive producer, Olson had to ask for it. Olson said, “What you learn is that you ask for what you want, and if someone says no, that’s OK. But you shouldn’t not ask for things.”

This advice carries over to Olson’s dating advice which she bases off of her relationship with Rob McElhenney. Going after what she wants is something that Olson definitely believes in. She said that, “What I learned, honestly is if there is that much of a pull…there was really nothing that could keep me away from him.”

So if you’ve got doubts and you’re not sure, the answer is no, it’s not right. That’s what I think because it only gets harder. You get used to each other. We’re great friends, he’s an amazing man, and he’s fun. My kids are so lucky that he’s their dad. He’s smart, he’s sensitive, he was everything that I was looking for. So it was so dumb [not to try and date] because there was nothing that could have stopped me because he was the right person.

The Mick is on every Tuesday on Fox and we’re already feeling it.
