Last week, one couple decided they were done waiting to get married and started making plans to tie the knot in Safety Harbor, Florida, where the bride Tina Ackles was at a business conference. But Tina and her fiancé, Thomas Rodgers, weren’t interested in a simple stop at the courthouse. Instead, they wanted a full wedding with a special twist — a record shattering number of bridesmaids.

Prior to last week, the Guinness Word Record was held by a couple who had 127 bridesmaids. Tina decided she could not just break that record, but surpass it by a mile. And in the end, she was right — she had 168 bridesmaids! 1-6-8, people!

How was it possible to pull so many women together at once? Tina turned to the business conference she was there to attend, and found plenty of women more than willing to help her beat the record and make her wedding a success.

“It’s an amazing thing to see two people that are passionate for each other and have the same goals and want to live and love forever. It doesn’t get any better than that,” bridesmaid Mia Anderson told WFLA.

The Mayor and City Commissioner of Safety Harbor were both present to make the record official, although it doesn’t sound like counting everyone was easy.

“You want the real picture of what I was thinking? I was thinking when is this going to stop? They just kept marching in and kept marching in with carnations. It was a very difficult task to count bridesmaids the way they came in together,“ said Mayor Andy Steingold.

Congratulations to the happy couple, and way to pull together a massive bridal party in record time!
