Angelina Jolie opened up about missing her late mom, saying, "I've needed her"
Her ability to raise six children while living a hectic life makes Angelina Jolie a pro at motherhood — and Jolie thanks her late mother, Marcheline Bertrand, for setting a good example for her. According to People, Jolie opened up about missing her mother in an interview with Elle France. She talked about how great of a grandmother Bertrand would have been to her kids if she hadn’t passed from cancer in 2007.
Bertrand was a single mother who raised both Jolie and brother James Haven by herself. She divorced Jolie’s father, John Voight, only a few years after Jolie was born.
Similarly, Jolie is currently sharing custody of her six children — Maddox, 15, Pax, 13, Zahara, 12, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox — with Brad Pitt, whom she separated with earlier this year.
Jolie told Elle France that being a mom of six has been the “greatest gift” as well as a great responsibility. She said,
Through her political and charity work, Jolie is setting an example that will not only benefit her children, but will in turn benefit the rest of the world. We have a feeling her mother would be extremely proud.
