A “Lost Boys” TV show is in the works to fill the void created by the end of the “Vampire Diaries”

Vampire Diaries fans got some bad news earlier this summer when it was officially announced that the upcoming season would be the show’s last. Tears. However, there just may be a light at the end of the tunnel for all you vampire-lovers out there.

The CW has announced that a Lost Boys adaptation is in the works!

For those who don’t know (or just aren’t old enough to remember), The Lost Boys was a classic 1987 horror comedy starring Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Haim, and Corey Feldman, and involved a team of kids tasked with killing a group of punk rock, teenage vampires. It’s a total cult-classic among vampire movie aficionados, and served as a launching pad for several of the film’s stars.

The show, however, looks like it will be taking a different angle on things. According to Deadline, the series has a seven-season arc and will span 70 years, with each season encompassing a full decade in the lives of the same group of vamps. Woah. 

This is seriously intriguing, and we have so many questions! Like will the entire supporting cast need to be replaced every season? Will we get to see some of the same humans age over the years? And will it be hard to find actors willing to commit to seven years up front?

Okay, we’re getting way ahead of ourselves, especially since the whole thing is just in the development stages. But oh, did we mention the whole thing will be spearheaded by Veronica Mars and iZombie creator Rob Thomas?!
