Lorde is on the newest ‘Vogue’ cover. Her mom is super proud, and so are we!
This weekend, endlessly talented musician and queen of dark-plum lipstick, Lorde posted a pic of the new Australian Vogue cover to Instagram. Specifically, HER new Australian Vogue cover. Along with the gorgeous photo she wrote, “YOUR GIRL ON THE COVER OF A PRETTY UNDERGROUND PUBLICATION KNOWN AS VOGUE.” All caps well-deserved here.
Wearing a white, floral Gucci maxi-dress that belongs at a wedding on the beach, Vogue left Lorde’s hair in its natural, Lorde-ness curly state – Ella Yelich is 1 million percent owning this Vogue spread.
Lorde’s July 2015 cover didn’t go unnoticed, of course. Her mom, Sonja (who went with her to the photo shoot) took to Instagram to express how in awe she is of her daughter. We’re with you on that, Sonja.
Sonja also posted another photo from the Vogue shoot — this time, Lorde is wearing a very business boss lady Givenchy dress and is covered in blue-green jewelry that matches the subtle peacock feathers against the burnt sienna fabric. Swoon swoon swoon.
Sonja is one proud mama, and she ought to be. Lorde’s first album Pure Heroine was massively successful, like top single Billboard 100, successful. In the issue, Cosmo reports Lorde discusses “her fame and its impact,” as well as her time at the Met Gala, and how she “[takes] time out” when she’s in New Zealand, her home. And we totally get why an 18-year-old who has already been featured in TIME‘s “Most Influential,” Forbes‘ “30 Under 30” lists, and has won two Grammys, two Billboard Music Awards, three World Music Awards (just for starters), would need to take some time to herself. Girl deserves it.
