Lorde covered this Robyn song and it’s absolutely stunning
While we’re (im)patiently waiting for her to release her second album, Lorde has been busy covering this Robyn song and it was all for a good cause, too.
While we know that Lorde’s fave song of this year was the 1975’s “Somebody Else,” fans have recently been all up in the singer’s grill asking about when she’s going to release the follow up to her smash album Pure Heroine.
However, after penning a personal essay on her 20th birthday, the singer seems to have taken a well deserved break from work on her next opus to appear to perform a rousing and haunting version of Swedish pop sensation Robyn’s “Hang With Me.”

The performance took place at the third annual Ally Coalition Talent Show in New York, an event set up by Jack Antonoff (aka Lena Dunham’s partner) and his sister Rachel to help raise money for homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
Sitting down with Antonoff at a piano, Lorde performed a rousing version of Robyn’s electro-ballad, adding some of her usual performance flourishes and it’s completely stunning.

Alongside Lorde, stars like Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen, CHVRCHES’ Lauren Mayberry were all also in attendance and performed at the event, which raised $100,000 for homeless LGBTQ+ youth. Charli performed an acoustic version of her hit “Boom Clap,” while Carly Rae Jepsen performed her fan favorite “Run Away With Me,” which earlier this year became a HUGE meme. Mayberry opted to perform a cover, however, choosing Katy Perry’s anthemic “Firework.”

All participants of the event joined forces to perform a cover of Fleetwood Mac’s “Go Your Own Way” for the event’s finale.

With regards to her second album, in her essay Lorde said that she was making progress on the project.
"I want you to see the album cover, pore over the lyrics (the best I’ve written in my life), touch the merch, experience the live show. I can hardly stop myself from typing out the name," she wrote. "I just need to keep working a while longer to make it as good as it can be. You'll have to hold on. The big day is not tomorrow, or even next month realistically, but soon. I know you understand."
Whenever you’re ready, Lorde (as long as being ready means 2017 at some point).
