LonelyGirl15 is back because the world needed it to happen

Today in things we didn’t realize we need, but actually definitely do need — new LonelyGirl15 videos! If you’ve been around the internet for at least 10 years, you probably remember the series of videos that came out starring 16-year-old “Bree,” aka LonelyGirl15.

In case you need a refresher, Bree started a vlog where she sat in front of her webcam and talked about her life — her boyfriend, her parents, and her religion. She was chosen for some sort of special “ceremony,” then her parents went “missing,” then she and her boyfriend went “on the run.”

People were so confused by her story — many people completely believed it was real, and others thought the whole thing was a hoax. The confusion led to a huge internet war that reached insane levels. People were dissecting every video — even attempting to track down the SKUs on items seen in her room to prove that everything was from target and staged.

Despite the arguments, the show continued on for two full years and was even broken up into “seasons.” It was eventually revealed that the entire thing was a hoax, and Bree was played by actress Jessica Lee Rose.

Exactly 10 years later, Bree is back and preparing new potential candidates for the “ceremony.” With all the content available on the internet now (YouTube, Snapchat, Netflix, etc. forever), it’ll might be harder to grab the attention of the whole world, but for the sake of nostalgia, and to find out what Bree has been up to all these years, we’re pretty sure people will watch.
