Lizzo did her part to thank healthcare workers by donating lunch to hospitals
Right now, healthcare workers all over the country are facing tremendous stress and uncertainty amid the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In an effort to bring some much-deserved nourishment, Lizzo donated meals to healthcare workers in hospitals across the country. She shouted out the thousands of heroes working tirelessly to treat patients in need.
Lizzo has donated meals to several healthcare centers, including the University of Washington Medical Center ER, the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, and the Henry Ford Hospital—which is in Lizzo’s hometown of Detroit. In a video message posted by the Henry Ford official Twitter account, Lizzo thanked the workers for “being the heroes in this story.”
The “Juice” singer told the workers, “I just wanted to say thank you so much for all that you’re doing during this pandemic.”
“It’s definitely not easy and you guys are putting yourselves on the front line,” she continued, “so because of that, I wanted to treat y’all to a meal. And I really hope that you guys enjoy the food. We did everything that we could to keep it safe for y’all so, lunch on me! I love you guys. Thank you so much for being the heroes in this story.”
Lizzo added, “We’re staying inside and we’re praying and thinking of you every single day.”

Sending a similarly grateful message to the Seattle workers, Lizzo said, “You guys are heroes and so the least I could do is just send you some lunch…I hope that you feel loved and appreciated, because you really, truly are. Thank you once again from the bottom of my heart and all of the hearts of the world. We’re watching, we’re praying for you, we love you.”

The best part, though, is seeing the response from healthcare workers to Lizzo’s gesture.
Several hospital employees got together to pose with their lunches and “thank you” signs to express gratitude for her surprise. All we can say is: Grab the tissues, because you might need them.
That moment when you’re working the ER and @Lizzo surprises you by sending over some lunch! 😲❤️

Lizzo posted a video montage to her Instagram with more videos and photos from the healthcare workers, and our hearts are truly bursting.
Billboard confirms that the “Good as Hell” singer plans to send meals to more hospitals soon. In her posts, she included a link to the COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund, which supports the World Health Organization’s efforts to help those impacted by the virus.
It’s a truly kind gesture in the face of such a stressful environment. Props to you, Lizzo!
