Drumroll, please! Pantone has announced its 2019 color of the year, and it’s a lot more cheerful than one would expect: living coral. Pantone hails living coral as “an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge.” And honestly, after the dumpster fire year of 2018, living coral is certainly a much-needed tone to bring us into 2019. In Pantone’s announcement, the color connoisseurs said of the nurturing choice:

"Vibrant, yet mellow PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral embraces us with warmth and nourishment to provide comfort and buoyancy in our continually shifting environment. PANTONE 16-1546 Living Coral emits the desired, familiar, and energizing aspects of color found in nature. In its glorious, yet unfortunately more elusive, display beneath the sea, this vivifying and effervescent color mesmerizes the eye and mind."
