Little Mix’s ‘Shout Out To My Ex’ is the perfect way to get over a breakup

There have been a few breakup songs that stand the test of time. Kelly Clarkson’s “Since You’ve Been Gone,” Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn,” and of course, Adele’s “Someone Like You.” These songs are able to capture different emotional truths about heartbreak. Some tap into grief, while others settle on upbeat indifference. Now, British girl group Little Mix has thrown their hats into the ring with a new song and music video called “Shout Out To My Ex.”

The music video is a fun accompaniment to a song that basically tells your ex to shove off. The girls can be seen doing various activities that are way better than reminiscing over their exes. Sorrow can’t touch them because they are too busy looking fresh and fabulous.

This song could not have come out a better time. Recently, a fan got a hold of an advance copy of Little Mix’s new book Our World, where member Perrie Edwards reveals what really went down between her and her ex Zayn Malik. Apparently, the ex-One Direction (RIP) member broke off his and Edwards’s two-year engagement by text. Perrie writes:

“It was horrible, the worst time in my life. a four-year relationship, two-year engagement ended by a simple text message. Just like that. Even though things in my career were going really well, it was incredibly difficult for me.

She’s doing better now — the book reads:

“I’m single at the moment and in a really good place. I feel like I’m stronger and happier than I’ve been in a long time. I’ve bought a house and it’s like I’ve found my independence after going through a really tough time."

We’re glad to see that Perrie is doing well now — and that we have this great song to add to our own breakup playlists!
