‘The Little Mermaid’ meets ‘Peter Pan’ is the Disney mashup we didn’t know we needed

One of our favorite artists has taken Disney mashups to a whole new level. TheNamelessDoll, who has brought us such magical things as the princesses with adorable short hair and without “baby face,” isn’t just giving us two-dimensional drawings this time. Nope, instead, the film student from Sweden has actually made a music video set to Lana Del Ray’s “Young and Beautiful,” and it’s all about Ariel and Peter Pan. I know Ariel’s always talking about becoming “part of that world,” but I don’t think any of us expect it would be this.

As TheNamelessDoll writes on the YouTube page, “I see their relationship being quite complicated: a little girl’s crush that later becomes romantic, but never sexual. Young love basically, with friendship being the main power source.” We slowly see that happen over the course of the video. Ariel’s down in her treasure trove, but instead of finding Prince Eric up on the surface, she finds the boy who wouldn’t grow up.

Using footage from The Little Mermaid and The Little Mermaid 2: Return to the Sea (not that, uh, I’ve seen that one a few times before), TheNamelessDoll is able to tell the story of Ariel as she grows up and grows old, but Peter always stays the same. Then, using footage from Peter Pan and Peter Pan 2: Return to Neverland (there are lots of Disney sequels out there, OK?), we watch Peter continue to be a young, wide-eyed, sometimes stubborn boy, and Ariel has to let him go.

And, all this set to Lana’s beautifully haunting voice? Oh man, these are feels we didn’t know were possible.

Check out her mashup video below. We’re going to love this forever.
