Listen to Obama’s uplifting message about America if you’re as bummed as we are about the election

Friends, do you need a hug right now? After all the assurances that Hillary Clinton would win this election, we just learned Trump has officially been elected as President of the United States of America. Yeah. We’re all in shock.

Knowing that you might be feeling frustrated (and heartbroken and betrayed), President Barack Obama has issued an uplifting message about the election, and you don’t want to miss it.

In a video for BuzzFeed, Obama offers his usual intelligence and comfort, virtually patting us all on the back with just a few words of loving kindness.

POTUS begins, “It’s finally election night, and I imagine that’s welcome news to most of you.”

He continues,

"While we've certainly seen some new things this time around, what isn't new is that our democracy has always been rowdy and raucous. We've been through tough and divisive elections before, and we've always come out stronger for it. That's what makes America special."

*Sigh* We’re feeling 1% better already.

Obama wraps up his video by saying, “No matter what happens, the sun will rise in the morning, and America will still be the greatest nation on Earth.”

We recommend watching the whole thing if you need some comfort tonight.

Oh and one last thing: Obama? Can’t you stick around for another four years? Pretty please?
