Listen to Kristen Stewart exercise her vocal chops in this SNL promo

Well here’s some fun and exciting news: Kristen Stewart is preparing to host Saturday Night Live! This Saturday, Stewart will grace the SNL stage and take over hosting duties for the very first time. She has been working hard to make sure she’s fully prepared for Saturday’s show, and that includes some very brief vocal warmups.

In a new promo, Stewart showed off her vocal chops as she sang a song she wrote for cast member Beck Bennett.

But first, Bennett performed a little ditty he wrote for the actress. He was accompanied by some jazz, a couple of backup dancers and a fedora — naturally. The song was short and sweet — it was literally just Stewart’s first and last name. But solid music is clearly not about length. Bennett hilariously managed to really put his heart and soul into it. So it’s no surprise that he took offense to the song Stewart said she wrote for him.

Accompanied by the same music, Stewart sang “Beck,” but just ended it abruptly and didn’t even include his last name. She was clearly not as into the song as Bennett had hoped.

“Wow! No last name, no fedora," he said. "You have a lot of work to do before Saturday."

Of course, it was all in good fun, as all SNL promos are. But he has a good point — fedoras are a necessary part of performances on SNL. Just ask Bruno Mars…

And Pharrell Williams…

They get it.

Stewart will be joined by musical guest Alessia Cara. Their episode will air this Saturday, February 4th at 11:30 PM.
