This lip art is insanely awesome
Lips have been a major topic of conversation lately on social media. There was the did-she-or-didn’t-she debate about Kylie Jenner’s lip injections and then the harrowing #KylieJennerLipChallenge trend. Plus, the Internet is saturated with tutorials on how to make your lips bigger using anything from lip liner to dark magic. Sometimes, it’s important to step away from these images and remember that your face is awesome because it’s your face. You don’t have to follow trends to look and feel awesome.
Laura Jenkinson, a 25-year-old make-up artist living in the UK, is taking a fresh approach to make-up that serves as a great reminder not to take “beauty” too seriously. Though she can totally pull off standard glamazon contouring looks, Jenkinson has made a name for herself on Instagram by transforming her lips into different cartoon characters. And they are nothing short of amazing!
Over the last year, she’s used her face as a canvas for some of our animated favorites, like Homer from The Simpsons, Chuckie from Rugrats, and Olaf from Frozen. She also creates original designs, like a baby dinosaur hatching from an egg in celebration of the new Jurassic Park movie. Sure, the trick to a bigger pucker might be applying lipstick slightly outside your natural lips, but Jenkinson takes coloring outside the lines to a whole new level.
In a recent interview with The Telegraph, Jenkinson revealed that she often uses professional theatrical make-up to paint her masterpieces, but will sometimes seek out certain lipstick colors if they match the character better. Who knew that Dose of Colors lipstick in the shade Sorbet is the perfect match to Patrick Star from Spongebob Squarepants?
The artist also gave some insight on why she uses make-up in such a silly way. “People always say it makes them really happy and it’s nice to bring a bit of joy,” she said. Bringing positivity to someone’s day with your face? Sounds like the best reason to put on make-up ever!
