Beyoncé joins the cast of “The Lion King” live-action remake, and SLAY

I’m just going to say it: There is literally no way that Disney will ever be able to top their live-action remake of The Lion King, so once this movie has been released they might as well stop making movies. Is this a very bold claim to make? Yes. But after taking a look at the full cast list for the movie, you’re going to feel the same way, too.

Earlier this year, it was announced that the one and only Donald Glover would be playing the role of Adult Simba, and a role has never been better cast in the history of movies. Returning to the lion that he made famous in the first place, James Earl Jones will once again reprise his role as Mufasa. But that’s not all! Billy Eichner and Seth Rogen will voice Timone and Pumbaa, respectively. John Oliver will voice Mufasa’s right-hand bird, Zazu! Chiwetel Ejiofor is going to roar “Be Prepared” as Scar! Alfre Woodard is taking on the role of Simba’s mom, Sarabi!

AND WAIT, THERE IS MORE. Remember Scar’s hyena henchmen? Florence Kasumba, Eric André, and Keegan-Michael Key will voice the lovable goons.

Beyoncé is voicing Nala in The Lion King.

She made the announcement on her Facebook page, as the best place to get news is on Beyoncé’s Facebook page.

There’s been a long-running rumor that Disney wanted Queen B to play the actual Queen of the Jungle, and that dream is finally coming true. Because guys, there’s now like a 90% chance that Beyoncé and Childish Gambino are going to sing “Can You Feel The Love Tonight” and I swear I’m not crying over the thought of that. (I am.)

The film’s director,  Jon Favreau (who you might know as the director of Disney’s live-action The Jungle Book, and also Happy Hogan in Spider-Man: Homecoming) is also pretty stoked: “It is a director’s dream to assemble a talented team like this to bring this classic story to life,” he said in a press release.

So excuse me, I have to go finish crying over the fact that this cast makes me SO HAPPY. The Lion King will roar into theaters on July 19th, 2019.
