In another touching tribute, Chester Bennington’s final Linkin Park tour will be released as a live album
In the months since Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington took his own life, the singer’s family, fans, and peers have mourned, in part, by publicly honoring his memory. Linkin Park’s surviving members played a star-studded memorial concert for Bennington last month, and now the band is putting together a new tribute to their beloved bandmate: a live album from Chester Bennington’s final tour.
The album, “One More Light Live,” will be released on December 15th.
Bennington “poured his heart and soul” into the tour, his bandmates Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell, Rob Bourdon, Mike Shinoda, and Brad Delson said in a statement posted to Twitter and Instagram announcing the album’s release:
"The shows we played together during the early summer of 2017 were extraordinary. Chester shared with us that he felt this was the best tour we had ever done...His dedication to bringing these songs to life was triumphant. "For those of you who attended this tour in person, we thank you. For those who could not, we hope this live album gives you a glimpse into how magical these shows were for the six of us."

Musicians repping bands from No Doubt to Yellowcard performed with Linkin Park in the October concert for Bennington at the Hollywood Bowl, while other music greats like Paul McCartney, Guns N’ Roses, and Metallica offered up video messages for the event. Proceeds from that show benefitted Music for Relief’s One More Light fund in Bennington’s honor.
Other efforts to publicly remember the singer haven’t shied away from the tragic circumstances of his July death.
In fact, Bennington’s widow, Talinda Bennington, has been adamant that the world see how misleading mental illness and the stigma surrounding it can be. In September, she posted a photo on Twitter of her late husband grinning with his family just days before he died. “Suicidal thoughts were there, but you’d. Never know,” she captioned it.
The Bennington family also gave their blessing for The Late Late Show with James Corden to release the full episode of Carpool Karaokethat Linkin Park recorded just a week before Bennington’s death. There too, the singer is smiling, singing, and laughing.

With the release of this new album, Chester Bennington’s legacy lives on. And with his loved ones’ brave campaign to speak out about mental illness, that legacy just might save the life of someone else who’s hurting.
