Twitter trolls came for Lindsey Vonn following her loss in the Super-G, and she brushed it off like the boss she is

Team USA skier Lindsey Vonn, one of the most successful woman skiers ever, is already a hero in our book. But this makes us love her even more. After a slip in the women’s Super-G lost her a spot on the podium at the 2018 Winter Olympics, Vonn took to Twitter to remind us that sometimes, we work hard and fall short — and that’s okay.

“Frustrating to be so close to the podium and to have made such a big mistake...but that’s ski racing, Lindsey Vonn tweeted. “I’m proud of the way I skied and how I attacked the course. I gave it my all and came up short. That’s life. Now it’s on to the Downhill!

However, not everyone was here for the skier’s positivity, and the Twitter trolls came out en masse. Vonn and fellow member of Team USA Adam Rippon have both been openly critical of Donald Trump’s time as president, and both Olympians said they would not accept an invitation to the White House after the PyeongChang Olympics.

“I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony,” Vonn said in December. “I want to represent our country well. I don’t think that there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that.”

The haters, many of whom seemed to be Trump supporters, quickly attacked Vonn after the Super-G.

Not everyone was against the Olympian, and many expressed their support through the troubling attacks.

Like the role model she is, Vonn continued to show her Olympic spirit as she reminded us that it’s impossible to please everyone.

Despite the influx of hateful tweets, Lindsey Vonn example is a powerful reminder that so many people — especially women — deal with harassment online, and the best method for dealing with Twitter trolls is often to ignore (okay, and block). false

We’re proud of Vonn for keeping her head held high, and we wish her the best of luck as she continues to compete at the Winter Olympics. We don’t support bullying of any kind, and we love seeing someone respond to it with grace. Keep dominating, Lindsey!
