Lindsay Lohan Is Returning to Rom-Com Movies for the First Time in a Decade

November 10th is the new October 3rd as Netflix announces the release date for LiLo's comeback.

Netflix understood the assignment. On October 3, the streamer gave a first look at its upcoming Lindsay Lohan-led holiday film, Falling For Christmas, which fans are more accurately dubbing as the Mean Girls star’s return to cinema.

Slated to hit Netflix on November 10, Falling For Christmas is Lohan’s first leading role in a romantic comedy in over a decade. (Her last leading role was in 2013’s thriller-drama, The Canyons).

In the rom-com flick, a spoiled hotel heiress befriends a humble, widowed lodge owner following a horrific skiing accident that has left her memory impaired. With help from her handsome new friend, Sierra tries to recover her memories just in time for Christmas.

Lohan stars opposite Chord Overstreet, whom fans may remember as Glee’s Sam Evans.

Ahead of the premiere, Lohan spoke to Netflix about returning to her rom-com roots in Falling For Christmas, which is what initially drew her to the project. “It’s such a refreshing, heartwarming romantic comedy and I miss doing those kinds of movies,” she explained.

Lohan also stepped out of her comfort zone while filming. “All the stunt scenes were really fun for me because I haven’t gotten to do that much in a lot of my films,” she added, teasing her skiing scenes.

Falling For Christmas is subset number one of Lohan’s three-picture deal with Netflix.

Next, the Freaky Friday star will play the leading role in Irish Wish, a supernatural rom-com set in Ireland. Lohan will portray a bridesmaid who turns into the bride after casting a wish. The plot — both messy and romantic — ensues from there.

A release date for Irish Wish has yet to be announced. However, in the meantime, you can mark your calendars to watch Falling For Christmas on November 10.
