Lindsay Lohan dressed up as Disney princesses and addressed THAT livestream incident in Paper
Paper magazine continues to cater to our 2000s-era nostalgia. Following the publication’s highly buzzed about Break the Internet edition featuring Amanda Bynes, Paper has dropped another cover story with none other than Lindsay Lohan. In its digital issue, Lohan channels Disney princesses Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, and, of course, Ariel. And in the interview, Lohan discusses her move to Dubai (where paparazzi is less severe), her new MTV reality show Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club, and that bizarre livestream seen around the world. You know the one we’re referencing.
In September, the Mean Girls actress received backlash after recording an Instagram Live from Russia, where she confronted and accused a family of child trafficking. Toward the end of the livestream, the actress is struck and falls to the ground. Lohan vaguely addressed the debacle, telling Paper:
"There's actresses, there's several of them to my knowledge that don't use Instagram or Twitter, but I feel like you sort of have to. It's your way of controlling the narrative. I recently made the mistake of having my phone recording live video, and that I learned from," she said. "But I think it's also important because if you're doing something and you want to give direct access to your fans, you can contact them and see their thoughts and get an opinion. Whereas in the past, you didn't have any control over it."
In a follow-up email through her rep, she added: “I read the situation wrong. I’ve learned from it. And that’s all I have to say.”
Still, Lohan refuses to be reduced to the “troubled child star” archetype. Opening up about the negative press that has befallen her in the past, she told Paper: “I would love to know why I get constantly clobbered in the press. I could do 99 things right and one thing wrong, but it’s that one thing that will be focused on,” she said. “Behind the scenes I do what I can to be the best version of me, which never gets mentioned. I am also human. I make mistakes. That’s all that seems to get reported.”
