Lin-Manuel Miranda loves “The Little Mermaid” as much as we do guys, and it’s adorable

It’s pretty widely known that Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda is the epitome of adorable. He approaches everything he does with so much love and enthusiasm. It’s really hard to not get as excited about the world as he is every time you watch him talk. It makes sense that writing and starring in a hit Broadway musical would require superhuman enthusiasm. Not to mention writing the score for Disney’s Moana and raising a son.

That’s why we were totally not surprised to hear is Miranda a huge The Little Mermaid fan. And he also kind of brings it to the next level.

Yeah, we are totally not surprised!

In an interview with Good Morning America, Miranda revealed that writing the score for Disney’s Moana was a total dream come true. Why? Because he is a complete Little Mermaid super-fan. In the interview, he said:

"I must've seen that thing three times in the theaters. I remember calling in sick from school on the day it came out on VHS — so that I could be the first to get it. So, yeah, that was a life-changer, Little Mermaid.

Miranda goes on to reveal that the calypso music from The Little Mermaid inspired him to compose music in the first place.

Which is pretty funny because the duo responsible for The Little Mermaid (Ron Clements and John Musker) would eventually hire him on Moana.

We don’t know what is more adorable. It could be imagining a young Lin-Manuel Miranda skipping school to get more The Little Mermaid screenings in his life. Or it could be the fact that he’d eventually grow up to work with the heroes who inspired him to write music in the first place.

Either way, we love this story. And we are so excited to hear his music in Disney’s Moana, in theaters now!
