Lin-Manuel Miranda called out someone filming during Hamilton by freestyling during “My Shot”
On January 16th, Lin-Manuel Miranda was performing onstage in Hamilton when he noticed an audience member filming the performance. So like the lyrical and musical genius that he is, he called the person out by freestyling some new lyrics in “My Shot.” We don’t support illegally filming Broadway performances, but like, imagine getting personally reprimanded by Miranda himself during a song? (It would almost be honor if it wasn’t so embarrassing.)
Hamilton opened on January 11th in San Juan, Puerto Rico—where Miranda has reprised his role as the founding father for the three-week run—and during the Wednesday show, Miranda caught the fan and rapped “Lady filming in the fourth row, please stop it!”
These are the actual lyrics to “My Shot”:
“I’m ‘a get a scholarship to King’s College
I prob’ly shouldn’t brag, but dag, I amaze and astonish
The problem is I got a lot of brains but no polish
I gotta holler just to be heard.”

Back in 2014, Miranda told a fan on Twitter that he can’t condone bootleg videos at his shows because “a bootleg, w terrible audio and shaky visuals doesn’t preserve my work, it MISrepresents it.”
