Lily Collins will open up about an “extremely difficult” past relationship in her new memoir, and we applaud her honesty
Relationships can pose a ton of challenges, and famous actors are not immune. And People let us know that Lily Collins is writing a very personal memoir detailing her difficult past relationships, titled Unfiltered: No Shame, No Regrets, Just Me.
Remember when she offered amazing breakup advice? Somehow she always knows how to frame her experiences in a relatable way, and we just dig her for it (all while maintaing our #stylegoals by doing things like stepping out with glamorous glitter eyes).
In the memoir, Collins made the choice not to identify any names — but rather discuss in a practical sense how her past shaped her into the well-rounded person she is today.
"It was not about attacking, it was about showing how you can be given situations in life and turn them into lessons. It takes knowing what you don’t want to know what you do want."
Writing about such private experiences is no easy task, and Collins is the first to recognize the inherent awkwardness.
"It's definitely like having my diary published."
We salute Collins for being so open and honest. She’s super aware that we’re all struggling through similar issues in life, and hopes that her memoir might encourage other women to be vocal about aspects of their relationships that are less than ideal. Because no one should ever feel like they’re settling or compromising too much of themselves to make something work.
"This is my way to open up conversation with young women and say, ‘Hey, we’re all the same.'"
We’re looking forward to getting to know Collins more through her book, and we’re glad that she’s using her celebrity status as a platform to raise awareness and help others. Good on you, Lily!
