Lili Reinhart has strong words for fans who “ship” her and her fellow castmates
We know. We know. You’re OBSESSED with Riverdale. Us, too! It’s amazing. And maybe because it’s so amazing, we secretly want to see the romances from the series continue in real life. Which has led to near-constant speculation about Lili Reinhart and her two on-screen love interests, KJ Apa and Cole Sprouse.
And while it may feel like speculating about a potential relationship among these three is fun and harmless, Reinhart, for one, has had enough of the obsession. And we don’t blame her — it would genuinely be exhausting to be on the receiving end of so much scrutiny.
She recently took to Tumblr to express her frustration with the endless intrusions into her personal life:
"It’s horrifying how invested some people are in my love life, emphasis on 'my.' It is mine. It is private. If a stranger’s love life is causing you anger, frustration or anxiety… please reevaluate your priorities. I also want to point out that there is a difference between shipping Betty and other characters, and shipping me with literally everyone I make eye contact with. There are so many other things to focus your attention and energy on."

Sprouse has also expressed a slight annoyance with the situation, although, to some degree, he gets it.
“Since the show began, people have wanted Lili and I to be together," Sprouse told Entertainment Weekly recently.
“People have wanted Lili and Camila to be together. People have wanted KJ and I to be together. People have wanted every actor on this show to be in a union that they could make real. But truthfully, it’s very pleasing that people talk about Lili and I in that way because it means that we’re resonating so strongly that people really want that to be true.”

At the end of the day, it seems obvious that these three would prefer the world to leave their private lives, well, private. If they say there are no romantic feelings, then we should take their word for it. Let’s give them some deserved space.
In the meantime, we’ll just speculate about Season 2. WE CANNOT WAIT.
