It’s hard to believe it’s been almost two years since the world lost Robin Williams. And to commemorate the upcoming anniversary of his passing, his daughter Zelda — who’s an actress herself — will be taking a break from social media to remember her dad this coming Thursday. She did the same thing last year, and the reason makes total sense.

Zelda posted a message on Twitter to explain her decision.

“For those who always ask why, it’s so people can memorialize Dad on the anniversary of his death however they wish without me having to feel bombarded by it, or pressured by the expectation put on myself or my family to publicity acknowledge or join in doing so.”

Social media can be overwhelming at the best of times, so it’s definitely understandable that Zelda is taking a break on this particular day. She couldn’t have summed it up better than when she wrote, “Hearts just need little breaks sometimes!”

In advance of Thursday, Zelda urges fans of the late actor to remember him in whatever way they feel most appropriate. For something special, she suggests donating to one of his favorite charities.

“And if you’d like to celebrate his life by celebrating causes he loved, you need only google, and you’ll find wonderful charities like the @ReeveFoundation, @CAFoundation and many more.”

And we’re happy to report that Zelda is doing pretty freaking amazing in her own right, starring as a transgendered teen in this summer’s Dead of Summer.

“The transgender community deserves an honest portrayal,” she said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about her character. “I can’t choose if they like his plot because I didn’t write it, but I can choose if they think that he’s not a stereotype, at least in how I hold myself, and that’s all I can do.”

Suffice it to say, we’re pretty sure her dad would be amazingly proud. You can read Zelda’s whole message here:
