There’s a surprising amount of beauty in destruction. At least that’s what YouTube user CrazyRussianHacker demonstrated in this popular video where he and his cohorts use explosives to destroy some watermelons.

The video shows these three fearless guys explaining what they’re doing. They don’t really go into the “why,” mostly because they really don’t need to. The “why” is pretty obvious once you see the actual exploding watermelons itself (Spoiler alert: Because it looks super awesome).

And if you thought that was sweet, you’re really in for a treat because these guys recorded the whole explosion in super slow motion. Which means you get to see the moment-by-moment details of how the watermelon gets obliterated.

And it is epic.

The fire from within, the pieces spraying everywhere, the white cloud of former fruitiness splaying all about… the drama of it all is almost too much to handle. Almost.

They have one more major success in their explosive experiment for the day (after a few failed attempts and a few mishaps). They got one more incredible close up of another explosion that looks so amazing you’d swear it was CGI. But then you just remember it’s good, old-fashioned, slow motion awesomeness.

It’s worth noting that this type of playful explosiveness should not be attempted at home. These guys obviously have some experience handling these dangerous devices, are aware of how to use them, have plenty of space to experiment in, and were smart about generally keeping their distance.

Watch the whole video to see a few of their attempts that didn’t pan out and to listen to their entertaining commentary throughout.
