Twitter just released important data about which state loves ice cream the most
Memorial Day unofficially marks the start of the summer season, and you know what that means: We’re about to start eating a lot of ice cream.
It’s no secret that we’re an ice cream-loving nation, but the folks at Twitter had the genius idea to analyze tweets about ice cream state-by-state, breaking down favorite flavors across state borders, as well as zeroing in on the state that tweets about ice cream the most: Nevada. Surprised?
The flavor data comes to us by way of a nifty infographic, which analysts drafted up by looking at all tweets about ice cream between March 1 and May 18. Chocolate and vanilla were the most popular across the board (with chocolate trumping vanilla, obvi), so the people at Twitter considered those flavors a control group and focused on the runners-up: mint chocolate, strawberry, brownie, cookie dough, and coffee. Take a look at the infographic below to see what your state craves.
Cookie dough and coffee were the reigning champs, with brownie coming in at a close second. Underdog strawberry has fervent supporters in Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, and faraway Alaska, while mint chocolate holds it down in the northeastern states of Maine, New Jersey, and Delaware.
If you’ll excuse me, this New Yorker is going to find herself some cookie dough.
