It’s the most wonderful time of the year — because we’re less than a month away from a brand new Star Wars movie. And since the release of a new film in the Skywalker Trilogy is most certainly a holiday, Disney World is pulling out all the stops when it comes to celebrating all things Luke, Leia, Rey, Finn, Poe, and BB-8. If you’re looking to completely immerse yourself in that galaxy far, far away this year, look no further than the happiest place on Earth.
This past weekend, Disney unveiled not one but *two* brand new destinations on Star Tours: The sandy, red planet of Crait and also — get ready for this — Batuu. Never head of Batuu before? You actually have, but it wasn’t called Batuu up until a few days ago. Batuu is the planet depicted in Disney’s brand new Star Wars land, Galaxy’s Edge. Along with these new travel destinations, you’ll also find some familiar Star Wars faces hanging out in the revamped attraction, like Poe, BB-8 and Maz Kanata (with a possibly spoiler-y blaster?).
If you’re looking for a night full of nothing but Star Wars, one day after the opening of Last Jedi, Disney World will hold another Galactic Nights at Hollywood Studios, which will transform the park into nothing short of a party for the evening. You’ll get the chance to meet little-seen characters — like K2-SO, Wwoks, and even Darth Vader — while also taking in some awesomely themed Star Wars food and drink options.
To send Galactic Nights off with a bang, there will be special Star Wars fireworks, and Tower of Terror will receive its own one-night-only projection show, transforming into locations like Jabba’s Palace. Galactic Nights requires a separate admission, and you can snag rickets right here.
This is all on top of brand new merchandise that you can get you hands on right now in the parks (and at ShopDisney.com), ranging from T-shirts, to toys, and so many adorable Porgs. And right now, you can meet the likes of Kylo Ren, Chewbacca, and BB-8. If that’s not the dream, IDK what is.
So if you’re wondering if now is the perfect time to visit Walt Disney World, the answer is yes. Even better, you can give the gift of a Disney World vacation to someone (or wish and hope that they give one to you) for all this Star Wars goodness. The force is definitely strong with Mickey right now.
