Shia LaBeouf hitchhiked around the country using a method none of us would have ever thought of — but we have to admit, it’s pretty darn cool. The actor stopped by The Ellen DeGeneres Show in a windbreaker and shorts (classic Shia) to share his experience of traveling across the country with two friends…and some adventurous Twitter followers.

Shia and friends created the hashtag #TakeMeAnywhere and Tweeted their coordinates for a month, encouraging Twitter users to pick them up and drive them wherever they wanted.

As Shia acknowledged, the entire experiment was a bit of a risk and required some serious faith in humanity. Even though they did run into some “trippers” (which we *think* means creepy people) there weren’t as many as he expected.

“I thought for sure we’d have some trippers pick us up and we did, but they were trippin’ with us, not against us, so it was cool,” he said.

Shia and his friend’s crazy adventure was part of an official sponsored project, with their path across the country documented on their official website.

Leave it to Shia LaBeouf to not only make this totally out-there project a success, but also make us seriously jealous over it.

Oh, and the adventure for Shia didn’t stop there! He married his girlfriend Mia Goth in Las Vegas — well, except the state of Nevada won’t recognize the union without a marriage license.

Hey, if Shia, Mia, and their Elvis impersonator are acknowledging it, so are we.
