According to Hotwire, the top five cities where locals are having staycations are New York City, Chicago, Toronto, Atlanta, and Vancouver. Procrastinators can save 31 percent on a room at Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego ($408 a night), 40 percent on a stay at the W Chicago City Center in Chicago ($151 a night), 33 percent on the waterfront Battery Wharf Hotel in Boston ($253 a night), and a massive 60 percent on rooms at the New Orleans Hyatt Regency in the Big Easy($141 a night).
A Mexican beach vacation
Auberge Resorts Collection’s new Chileno Bay Resort & Residences is offering travelers booking last-minute Labor Day trips a free night. The contemporary property, located on one of the only swimmable beaches in Cabo, is available for $515 a night, with the third night free. For something more affordable, consider the beachside Las Brisas Ixtapa, which has discounted rooms available for $80 a night.
A Hawaiian escape

RewardExpert’s latest Labor Day air travel forecast predicted that Hawaii would be one of the easiest destinations to travel to for Labor Day weekend. More than 94 percent of Hawaiian Airlines flights are on time, and Maui’s airport has an on-time score of 90.9 percent.
