Beyoncé isn’t the only star that can work a strategically placed wind machine. For the Insta-famous pup Toast (who has 160k followers), hanging her head out of the window of a moving car gives her that effortlessly windblown look. And that’s why eyewear aficionado, Karen Walker decided to make this furry friend the star of her 2015 summer campaign. After noticing this adorable canine sporting some of her frames on social media, the New Zealand-based Walker approached the pup and her “dogager” Katie Struino about appearing in her latest spread. Toast, a gorgeous King Charles Cavalier, has a HUGE number of followers and keeps close ties with supermodels like Karlie Kloss — it was really only a matter of time before she broke into the biz.
For a little background, Toast was rescued in 2011 by her parents from a puppy mill and had to have her teeth removed (hence her signature floppy tongue). Her parents are the aforementioned Katie Sturino and New York-based comedian Josh Ostrovsky, who you probably already know by his Instagram handle @thefatjewish. Walker reflected on her campaign star choice stating,”This gorgeous redhead’s story is a true Cinderella one. She was discovered living in cruel circumstances, rescued, and quickly rocketed to fame thanks to her wonderful looks, charming personality and inimitable sense of humour.”
As well as adding Toast to her roster of original cover girls, Karen Walker has also made a generous donation to Friends of Finn, a committee that helps stop inhumane breeding practices in puppy mills.
