It’s always nice to hear that two apps are getting along. Such is the case with the news that Tinder is now connecting with Instagram to provide its users with even more information. Considering that you can get a fairly good impression of someone from their Instagram account, the goal is to make a potential connection even easier when you’re glancing over their Tinder profile.

Tinder wants you to be able to get a better sense of who you’re talking to, and users being able to link to their Instagram feed will definitely make it more difficult for people to misrepresent themselves. At the very least, you won’t be questioning which person you’re talking to based on the group photo her or she uploaded to his profile.

If you connect your Instagram to your Tinder account, people will have the ability to see up to 34 of your most recent images. If your Instagram is private, you can choose to display photos on your Tinder profile without having to reset your Instagram settings.

Here’s a visual to wrap your head around:

In addition to linking up with Instagram, the new Tinder update will also provide users with what’s called second-degree connections. Basically, it allows you to see more mutual friends than ever before—or friends of your friends. For the most part, it’s helping you to better weed out any potentially awkward encounters. But hey, it’s only an app. Awkward things will happen, because that’s what online dating is all about (yay).
