This dog is giving away free hugs because admit it, you need one right now
Nothing is cuter than a dog that wants to hug you. Absolutely nothing. But this dog giving free hugs in New York City gets the award for best and cutest thing ever. Golden retriever Louboutina, or Loubie, doesn’t just take walks around the city and try to chase squirrels. This super cute and adorable dog gives out free hugs to anyone walking by. Within minutes of hitting the sidewalks, Loubie wants to stop, greet people and then hug them, wrapping her forelegs around their knees.
“It’s just not a regular walk,” Fernandez-Chavez tells The Dodo. “It’s a walk with hugging. So we don’t get to go too far.” If you’re having a tough day, it might be worth it head to the Big Apple. You can catch her in the Chelsea area at 5th Avenue and 17th Street for a furry hug.
Even more impressively, Loubie was never trained to give hugs. Fernandez-Chavez never taught Loubie to do this — he says she does it all on her own. Before hugging, she wanted to hold people’s hands. She started doing this around Valentine’s Day 2014 after Fernandez-Chavez had ended a long-term relationship. “She started sitting up and grabbing my hands with both of her paws, and then crossing the other paw over her paw,” Fernandez-Chavez said. “I remember joking with my friends, ‘At least I have someone to hold hands with during Valentine’s.'”
He even hugged people during the Women’s March last month.
“From then on, every walk, she wanted to hold hands,” Fernandez-Chavez says. “She would just sit up and cross her paw over the other, and look around like a lady. People passing by were like, ‘Oh my god, she’s so cute.'”
The hugs started a couple of years after that. What a precious pup!
