After months of speculation, The Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas finally “let the cat outta the bag”.

During the the the band’s Washington DC Landmark Music Festival performance Sunday night, Casablancas confirmed that the band will be recording a follow up to 2013’s Comedown Machine. “Well be back soon,” he told the crowd. “We’ll be back in the studio and sh*t”.

In case you needed further confirmation, guitarist Nick Valensi’s wife, Amanda de Cadenet, fielded questions from fans via Twitter, confirming Casablanca’s statement:

The Strokes have remained quiet since the announcement, only tweeting a picture from last night’s show. Ah, how greedy we become after album announcements!

The guys are slated to perform in Austin, TX on October 4. ‘Til then, we’ll be playing 2001’s Is This It in celebration.
