Of course we love it when our emoji keyboard expands, because who wouldn’t want to express their hopes and dreams (and needs!) with a taco, a slice of watermelon, or a basketball?

It was just a few days ago that we spilled the news about Disney emojis and Google’s professional women emojis, and now Apple has an exciting update to share.

With the iOs 10 iPhone update, more than one hundred new and redesigned emoji characters will be available.

They will represent gender diversity, equality, and family. We’re talking female athletes, a rainbow flag to celebrate gay pride, single-parent families, and more!

From the female construction worker and detective, to the kick-ass surfer lady, to the weight lifter, to the water pistol instead of the regular one, we can’t wait to get the most out of these brand spanking new emojis.

This is great news, not only for the girl-powered emoji conversations we’re all about to have, but for the fact that Apple recognizes the need to introduce characters that accurately represent the people and places that exist in our world.

The reality is that women exist in every profession, so anything that supports that reality is something we salute (it’s also perfect for chatting about the upcoming Olympics!)

Positive change toward accepting modern families can also be slow, but this is a bold leap in the right direction. The public release of iOs 10 is expected for the fall, so prepare accordingly for some extreme emoji using!
