Climate change is a very real thing, and it’s happening in front of our very eyes. While we’ve got a long way to go when it comes to confronting our environmental issues, one thing is for sure: awareness is everything, and Earth Hour is a great – albeit small – place to start.

Started by the World Wildlife Federation in 2007, Earth Hour calls for people around the globe to turn off all your lights, unplug your electronics and go completely power-free for one hour between 8:30pm and 9:30pm local time. While the initiative began in Sydney, Australia, it has since grown to include over 150 countries and can go a long way in highlighting our need for action.

Will you be recognizing Earth Hour?
