The (illustrated) four stages of accepting rejection
As an artist not everything goes my way. I don’t get every client, I don’t land every gig. With every “yes” comes a wave of “no’s” which is only natural. I have become a lot stronger when dealing with rejection but sometimes it still gets the best of me. I have learned over the years that instead of pretending that everything is OK, to allow the feeling of disappointment to take its course. If I give myself a few moments to process and heal, I’m able to bounce back. Repressing the feeling only ends with feeling more anxious than before. With a recent setback I was able to draw out this comic, by the end of it I was laughing so hard I forgot the client said no.
I can draw a comic about it, and laugh.
