Is it us or are these new-age grandmas getting edgier by the minute? We pose this question because someone’s grandmother made a NSFW shark blanket for her grandson, and we honestly don’t know what to say.

This latest grandma-related tale comes to us courtesy of Cosmo, and it’s the most recent in a string of stories involving atypical grandparental behavior. Over the past few weeks, we’ve witnessed a grandmother smoking weed with her grandson on camera, and an extraordinarily hip granny who showed a group of spring breakers in Mexico precisely how it’s done.

Which brings us back to this, er, questionable blanket, which is so far from how grandma gifts are supposed to be done, it’s not even funny.

Like, we need help understanding exactly WTF granny was thinking when she knit this shark blanket for her grandson and precariously positioned the fin. Imgur user newrapson shared the image last week, and commenters understandably had a LOT to say about it.

Without further ado, we’ll just drop it right here for ya:

So, we welcome your feedback because maybe some of what you have to add to this convo will bring some clarity to the situation. OTOH, we suppose we shouldn’t allow our befuddlement to get in the way of the fact that grandma knit this shark blanket out of the kindness of her heart, which is to be applauded. That’s all that matters, isn’t it?  The kid is obviously cozy and comfortable beneath the blanket, and… NOPE. We can’t stop staring at the protruding fin.

Welp, we tried to ignore it, but there’s no way we can give this knitting granny a pass. We have a sneaking suspicion she’s somehow related to the mom who bought a NSFW pillow set. If not, they should *totally* hang out and swap design stories.
