We all desperately need some heart-warming news at the moment, right? (That’s a rhetorical question.) We’ve got you covered, because a “Secret Santa” paid the lunch debts of numerous elementary schoolers, and the mystery man’s act of kindness and generosity has helped restored our faith in humanity.

Last Monday, he called HW Good Elementary School principal Amy Larcinese and asked if he could pay off all the students’ overdue lunch balances — an amount that came to nearly $1,000.

Out of the school’s 300 students, 44 had overdue balances. Just two days after the unexpected call, “Secret Santa” dropped off the check.

“For some of our kids, the only two meals they get a day are when they’re here at school. Many families in the district simply can’t afford to pay off those lunch accounts — it’s never about not wanting to pay,” Larcinese told ABC News.

One student had a particularly high balance — so the donor designated money to pay for that child’s lunches for the rest of the month in addition to paying off the existing debts.

Students’ families contacted the school wishing to express their gratitude — but this generous stranger prefers to remain anonymous.

This mysterious Secret Santa has made an incredible difference in the lives of 44 children, and provided a powerful and important reminder that there are so many wonderful, generous people who want to help others without receiving any fanfare.
